INSCITES is an educational program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) with the goal of promoting scientific and technological literacy with a strong emphasis on social impact and responsibility. The program is run by the California Nanonsystems Institute (CNSI) and designed by graduate students from diverse academic backgrounds.

For Spring of 2007, the course will focus on surveillance technologies and will examine the scientific foundation of many existing surveillance technologies as well as discuss the social and historical context for their development as well as their impact.
