Spectroscopy Facility
The Spectroscopy facility of Materials Research Laboratory is the home to the state-of-the-art magnetic resonance instruments in solution NMR, solid-state NMR, MRI, Rheo-NMR, PFG-Diffusion, DNP-NMR, and EPR. These machines probe the local structure of nuclei non-invasively at the atomic level as a function of structural parameters such as bond length, bond angle, coordination number, and type of neighbor atoms. Applications range from structure determination, imaging, dynamics/kinetics monitoring, to physical property measurement of a variety of sample systems from inorganic, organic, biological, to their hybrids, and from small molecules to macromolecules like proteins and polymers. The facility services the on-campus research community as well as off-campus industrial companies and academic institutions. Technical personnel provide regular hands-on user trainings and, if requested, offer technical services.
