Michelle O’Malley awarded the prestigious American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) 2021 Allan P. Colburn Award

UC Santa Barbara chemical engineering professor Michelle O’Malley has been named the recipient of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) 2021 Allan P. Colburn Award. O’Malley’s pioneering research focuses on understanding the genetic pathways that control biomass breakdown in anaerobic microbiomes, with applications in carbon cycling, bioremediation and the production of high-value chemicals.
