Analytical Core

The BNL Analytical core houses a variety of analytical instruments such as the Tecan plate reader and Malvern Zetasizer.

Trained users will have keycard access to the lab and will be able to book and use the analytical instruments listed below.

For ease of management, molecular biology instruments located in the BNL are also part of the Analytical core.

The Beckman-Coulter Optima XE-90 ultracentrifuge offers fast, user-friendly centrifugation at speeds up to 90,000 RPM
For label-free, fast, and sensitive protein-binding kinetics and quantitation.
Multimode plate reader for fluorescence, absorbance, and luminescence measurements.
The Tecan M200 plate reader is able to read fluorescence, luminescence and absorbance readings from standard size plates with any well configuration. The system is monochromatic so any excitation/emission or absorbance wavelengths can be used. Protocols can be customized using a simple drag-and-drop scripting interface.
Measures size distribution and concentration of particles suspended in solution using nanoparticle tracking analysis.
The Zetasizer Nano ZS is an instrument that measures size, molecular weight, and zeta potential of small particles suspended in solution using dynamic light scattering (DLS), static light scattering (SLS), and electrophoretic mobility, respectively.
The UV-Vis 1800 is a highly precise spectrophotometer, capable of absorbance measurements with a resolution of only 1 nm. It has multiple modules, including photometric, spectrum, and kinetics modes.
Additional molecular biology and biochemistry tools available for use for a daily recharge rate.
